About this blog

We’re already living in a surveillance society. Surveillance is everywhere. This blog is a kind of research diary and clipboard of interesting things from me, David Murakami Wood, on surveillance, security and society. It was originally largely intended for me to order my thoughts and keep a record during my last big UK research project, Cultures of Urban Surveillance, back in 2008. I ran it quite regularly until 2011, and then I let it slide for a while, started again, stopped again, but from late May 2014 it will be definitively back for the next 5 years because I have a new research project which so uncannily fits the title of the blog that you’d think it was especially created for it. The project is called, Smarter Cities? Big Data, Ubiquitous Surveillance and Urban Management, and you can read about it here.
